After a life-threatening medical incident caused by chronic portal vein thrombosis, left me severely weakened and with significant muscle loss, I embarked on a journey to regain my strength and weight. Struggling particularly with the overhead press (OHP), I discovered that the seated behind-the-neck Smith machine overhead press was an effective accessory exercise. This movement, which emphasizes deltoid strength through a stable and deep range of motion, helped me steadily rebuild pressing power. By incorporating it into my training program, I regained strength in my strict OHP and improved overall pressing ability. I attribute the success to a combination of the behind-the-neck press exercise, recovery, and proper nutrition.
